Hey all. Ia’m having a horrible time with a re-edit of mine. I’m trying to find a quicker way to be able to move EVERYTHING over to the right of my cut. Now, I have to zoom all the way out and lasso or find some clever way to roll edit everything over which is very annoying. I’d like to be able to just make an edit throught the whole timeline and go a mass select of all the clips to the right, and move them around at will in one of two swift moves. Anyone got a trick for that?

Thanks man, I swear that one just got to me. I really think I’m not looking at Avid in the correct way. I’m trying to make it too much like FCP. I really need some guidence on how I can approach this type of editing. Know anyone good or anything good that I can talk to or get my hands on to help me with the transition?

Forget lassoing. The avid way of thinking: use In and Out points
    activate all tracks( V1 A1 A2 ..
Press ‘end’ to go to the end of the sequence.
Press ‘o’ to mark an out-point.
Go to the spot you want to move. Press ‘i’ to mark in.
The whole part is now purple.
in your source monitor mark in and outs.
Insert( not overwrite) the shot with ‘v’

It probably means you have no in and out points selected in your source window
As with classical VT-editing, you have to put in’s and out’s on both the source and target tape
( in this case source and target window)
