We’ve got a new PC and played out a MOV (we have QT installed) on AE. The file, however, is not recognised on FCPX even though it is H.264 MOV.

Any ideas? We’re now trying an AVI.

Although I find it hard to believe that FCPX wouldn’t accept any flavor of Quicktime, that appears to be the case. Bear in mind that Quicktime is merely a wrapper, and that it’s possible to have DV, HDV, XDCAM, DNxHD, ProRes, DVCPRO, MPEG-4, and other actual encoding within that wrapper. This is the problem. Most suggestions I’ve seen are to convert your H.264 files into ProRes.

This also might be of some help:

Hmm, think I have solved it. Have installed QT Pro. Now rendering out a Animation codec QT from AE seems to be readable on a Mac. Hurrah!

    Thank you!
