    Hi All,

I am a VERY new user of Adobe Premiere (CS3 version) and creative cow.

I have a JVC HDD handy cam that records in MOV files and I am having trouble importing them into Premiere.

I am sure I am doing something wrong…. PLEASE HELP

MOV files can include one of a dozen or more codecs. My still camera does MOV files that are Sorenson 3 and import into Premiere fine, albeit very slow. It could take several minutes to import one clip.
If you get an error message on import, then Premiere cant handle that consumer format. Premiere Elements is designed to handle more consumer formats than Pro.
Did your camera come with a video editor? It might be able to convert your MOV files into DV.avi for use in Premiere.
If you are serious about video editing, get a DV/HDV camera.

We have been using NTSC DV QT’s so that we can use the captured files in Premiere Pro, FCP, & Vegas without having to ReRender or ReCapture.

As of lately… we are having a problem w/ these NTSC DV QT’s in Premiere Pro CS3. They will import and start to play… but after about 5 seconds… the timeline stops.

Sometimes it takes a while for it to regain its composure and start to play again. Sometimes you click on the timeline and it takes 30 – 40 seconds for it to update on your monitor/display.

    – Anyone else having these problems?
    – Anyone have a solution as to what filetype/CoDec to use in a Multi NLE environment?
