MOV file works on MAC, not PC
I have some footage shot in HD and imported into Final Cut Pro on a mac. When I take the MOV files and put them on my PC, the audio is all messed up. It repeats in places, cuts out in others, and is off by a second or two in other places. Another PC I tried to view it on only plays the audio, which sounds good, but the video is entirely missing. I’ve tried VLC media player and Any Video Converter on the PC.
I imagine your answer will be to change some settings in Final Cut Pro and save or export the files. That is fine if it is the resolution, but I’d rather fix it on the PC side because my camera guy is the one with the MAC and FCP. I have a PC. -

Do you have the latest version of quicktime player on your pc and are you sure that your pc is man enough for the job?

What format of video is this? Meaning, what codec? What camera was used to shoot this? A lot of codec in FCP are FCP specific…

Shane’s Stock Answer #48 – Cannot view DVCPRO HD, HDV or ProRes QT files on your computer.
The DVCPRO HD, HDV and ProRes codecs only comes with FCP. If your computer does not have FCP installed, it cannot view these quicktime files. It doesn’t matter if it is a Mac or PC, without FCP installed, you cannot view these files.
If you need to view ProRes material, you can download the ProRes decoder (mac and windows compatible) for ProRes

If you have MXF files from a P2 camera and you need to view the footage on a computer without FCP, you can download P2CMS from Panasonic:

Or you need the other party to compress the footage into a format your computer can play, like H.264.

Hey guys, i got my DVCPro66HD Tapes from Panasonic imported into Mac to my PC drive, which they formated it to Mac drive. But i got that fixed by installing MacDrive8 i can view the files in the drive. This was done by a post production company in NYC. I cant view the files on my PC or QuickTime, when i convert it, its all out of place. I use Sony Vegas and Adobe Premier pro CS5 to edit videos. Now my question is what does this Calibrated{Q} does for the DVCPro decoder. If i install this and “decode” the videos can i successfully convert to mpeg, and will this be in PC format, and doing that will i be able to edit on Sony or Adobe?? If some one can answer that for me please…
