    Hi Folks!

I am trying to create a paper cutout animation similar to the one below, and I was going to ask your advice on how to animate their eyes (blinking) and mouth (smiles, etc) efficiently. I would not have them talk, but just as in the video where there’s a narrator with a story and they just frown, or smile, etc.):

    – should I make each eye and mouth image instances separately in photoshop then just use the one I need at the right timing?
    – only one image then manipulate it with the pupped tool?
    – draw the eyes and mouth in a separate solid layer in AE, then animate the brush path?

I just feel that there’s a very easy way of doing this, and I am very curious of your ideas.

    Thanks a bunch!
    Gabi

    Yep, there is:

“PreComp-Eyes” in it are the different Eyes (woohooo), Open, closes, happy… etc, as a sequens only ONE FRAME long!
in the animation comp you go, time-remap the PreCompEyes, put a hold keyframe on it!

so when you need the eyes to blink, you keyframe 0,1,0 or 0:00, 0:01, 0:00.

benefits: fast and the eyes can easily be changed throuout the whole project.

(english is not my first language.. but after effects is 😉 )
