Before you tell me that this is the wrong forum, I’m posting here because I can’t find answers anywhere else.

I have a G5 Intel that the click-drag feature has stopped working on. I can’t copy-paste either to get the file to the folder where it needs to go. Has anyone seen this? Did the user (actually someone else) click on something she wasn’t supposed to? I’ve never seen this before. Any advice would be welcomed.

    Thanks,
    Scott

I have seen it many times. Unplug the mouse and plug it in again. That will typically fix it.

If by any chance you have a wireless mouse, unplug both the USB receiver from it’s cable and the USB connector from the computer, then plug them both back in.

It’s a hard-wired mouse, and I unplugged it, re-launched finder, re-booted, checked the USB drivers to make sure that they’re current. Weirdest thing!!!

I was going to ask you the same. It’s not like it’s not the 19th most common name in the US or anything… there were 16 in the Atlanta area when I lived there 13 years ago.

Well, did it work??? You failed to inform us of that minor detail.

No. It didn’t work. She can’t drag anything to move it, our IT people are at a loss.

What other USB devices do you have installed? Unplug them all, rebbot, then try the mouse only.

    Have you tried another mouse?
