Does anyone have any experience with a decent motorized pan head for timelapse work? I need something next week that will mount to a normal tripod, and have a very slow programmable speed so the pan looks normal when the timelapse is complete. Ideally I’d like to rent (will be in NYC) but this needs to be able to handle about 20lbs and be rock solid.
    Any suggestions?

This is too late for your shoot, but there are a number of websites which specialize in timelapse; google timescapes and openmoco. I’m about to test one solution, and will know more in a few days. Reply if you are still interested.

Good luck – sorry I didn’t see your post until now. You may have had more luck in the DSLR forums here, too.
