Motion,memory and page ins/outs
Hey all,
I got a little question. after using Motion for a while and exporting a mov my G5 mac seems like a MacPlus.
I checked Activity viewer and low and behold
Page ins/outs 68700/118224
only a restart gets the machine back to where it should be. How can I prevent this do I need more ram, is there a secret, or is it just Motion?
file: DV 11 layers with 2 layers each and image masks 1600 frames long
top layer with fixed resolution checked
Dual 2.5 G5
4 Gigs ram
6800 Ultra
23″cinema display

Sadly, more RAM is probably the fix. Check to see if you have any page outs before starting Motion, as this would indicate a strange problem.

Yeah I was afraid of that. I’m waiting to max out my ram till WWDC to hear the announcement of new machines, to figure out if it’s worth it.
