motion wont render entire project
Hi guys, hoping someone can help me, I’m going crazy here.
I have a project that has to be in monday, its finished but whenever I render it, it basically stops about halfway and exports the movie there, this means theres no sound aswell (i’ve exported audio only and it does the entire movie fine).
Is this some kind of problem with running out of memory or something? It gets to about halfway on the progress bar then bam! my video appears, rendered… but its only about half of it.
Really urgently need to find a solution to this.
The videos used were all originally .mxf files, but I used a plugin for quicktime to export them all to .movs before sticking them into motion so I don’t see how that could be an issue – they play in the timeline fine.

What happens if you drop the motion project file onto a fcp timeline?

I don’t actually have fcp installed on this machine (my home machine) only motion, but I can try.. Do you think it would make a difference?
Tried exporting without audio last night and audio only. Audio only worked fine, got an AIFF no problems. Video only, i got about one minute more exported before the entire app crashed.
What settings compression wise take up the least resources? I’m currently exporting to MPEG4, if i choose something else is that likely to aid it at all?
Noticed that “video and audio” is greyed out if i select the group with the videos with the audio turned on and try to render just that selection https://imgur.com/ikAe8
Also noticed this strange line in the timeline before the group – any idea what this is?The audio is all switched to “on” aswell, some cut away elements are above them in the timeline with audio off.. could this cause trouble? https://imgur.com/BgdGR

Aside from dropping it into an FCP timeline…
By any chance do you have your work area on 1/2 the timeline? Opt-X will clear it.

I won’t ask how it’s installed w/o fcp.
I’d do an animation export (huge file) and then compress it after the fact – just to get it out.
Alternatively, you might try the ‘share’ command under the file menu.
And technically, you can put the motion file directly in compressor.

Could there be a corrupted file somewhere? Try exporting just the second half, after the bit where it usually crashes.

What about resetting your play range the the second half or the middle third and rerendering.
You could also try turning off one group at a time to see if it’s a corrupted file or font or something like that.

Delete your motion preferences and try again.

I’ve had this problem a lot in the past.
My solution was to restart the computer and try again a few times, sometimes it would take 3-4 attempts before it magically just worked.Recently I put an extra 8GB of RAM in my system, and I have not had the problem since.
