so i have a shot that i would like to track. The point tracker was doing a horrible job so i switched to Mocha. i tracked the shot and when i imported the data, everything workd out well with 1 problem. The tracking data is perfect on the right side but when i move my object that i want to track on the left side there is alot of jitters. i have uploaded a video of what im talking about ehre.

I aplied the data to the text. when its on teh left side of the shot it jitters but on the right side it works perfect? i do not know what is causing this

here is the link to the screen capture

    Your video link doesn’t work.

Try applying the tracking data to a Null and use parenting to link it to your text.

    Cheers,
    Ben

i dont know why the video didnt convert. but yeah that is how i apply trak data i apply to null and parent it. but do u know why works only on one side of the shot? is it because i tracked the object that is on the right side of the shot? or somehting else is wrong

If you are tracking an object that is not co-planar to what you want to track then it won’t look right. For example, if you have a sign in the foreground and one in the background, then motion of those two object is different. See Parallax.

Track something that is co-planar to the what you need to matchmove.

    All the best,
    Ben

thanks for that advise and the info on parallax. so according to what i understand about parallax, in a shot wheere i want to replace somethinng in the background should i track something in the background or would the track of any point work? for ex. in a shot like this picture where my camera is shaking like a hand held

if i wanted to replace something in the back hills should i track something around that part or could i track one of the flowers in foreground and use that track to add elements in the background hill

You’d want to track the back hills. Tracking the haystacks would give you a very different set of data, which you wouldn’t be able to use to matchmove the background elements.

    Cheers,

Hi, im having a problem whith the tracking motion. The camera moves a lot and I want to stick a text to a car to give the impresion tha it was ther in reality. But the traking dosent work 100%, the text in some parts starts to move. The problem coud be than I havent found a great spot to do a proper traking? because i dont have any, its a tree in front of a read wall. Thanks a lot. Emiliano

If you want to stick the text to the car, then you either have to track the car, or something that moves in the same way as the car. If the car is static and the camera moves, you could track an object that’s close to the car and the same relative distance from the camera.

    Hope that helps,
    Ben
