Hello guyz, i’ve been working with my adobe after effects 7.0 for a long time, and anytime i needed to insert a image that would follow my hand or my eye, i just keyframed it, but recently i found out that you can just do motion tracking which is WAY better!
So, i watched some tuts in videocopilot.net BUT i insert my video, make a null object right click on the footage, and Track Motion is gray… (doesnt work) Everything esle is black, but Track Motion, Stabilize motion and create outlines, but rest is usable 🙁 Any idea why it doesnt work? 🙁

Thanks for the advice mate, but it still not working for me 🙁 Its still in gray 🙁
So here are my steps to be more precise –
    1) I import a footage
2)I drag it into a new composition
3)I make a new null object
    4) i try motion tracking the footage.. and it aint working.

So here is the qestion, is there a possibility that i cant use motion tracking on Adobe after effects 7.0? Lots of people say that i need to have pro to do this, but i don’t know the difference between 7.0 and 7.0 pro. And is there a way to upgrade from 7.0 to pro? 🙂
And my last qestion is – Is it true what people say that adobe after effects 7.0 is the same as adobe after effects cs2? 🙂

Ok for more info – im useing adobe after effects 7.0, and a lot of people say i need a pro version for this 🙂 But i cant tell the difference between those 2 versions. And is there a way to upgrade my adobea after effects 7.0 to pro?
Ok the final qestion is – Ive come across a lot of information that Adobe after effects 7.0 is the same as adobe after effects cs2? 🙂

AE 8 is CS3, and AE9 is CS4. AE7 is the equivalent of CS2 but they didn’t call it that, I think.

I don’t know exactly about which versions have motion tracking… i’m sure you could google for this info, the multiple versions thing (professional vs standard) seems confusing to me (i just know the pro version has everything!).

if you’re using AE quite a bit, it may be worth considering upgrading anyway… i haven’t got CS4 yet but CS3 does have some nice additions, such as the puppet tool and various other stuff.
