so i am goin to dive into a project this weekend.

i am somewhat new to rotoscoping and motion tracking and was hoping i could save myself some time by asking you guys this:

we have a picture frame in a shot that is NOT on sticks and moves alot and also zooms in at points i want to replace the picture in the frame with something else…

should i consider this a job for rotoscoping or a job for motion tracker?

    NOTE:
i have other shots that of a simular issue.
i where tracking points disappear at certain points and i dont have a constant foreground object to track.

i want to know how you guys handle this in a professional enviornment .

any suggestions for me before i go frame by frame and try to animate my mask?

Sounds more like you need to use Mocha… or be ready to spend a whole lot of time rotoscoping… and even then that may not work… lot depends upon your video.

so i had some luck with the windows it was a straight forward shot not much movement so that was fairly easy.

i will use a combination of rotoscoping and motion tracking for shots where subject is in front of picture frame ( if i have the time )

i will post up the video when i am done to show what i did.
