    Hello there,

I have several questions, so let’s start shall we?,

What is motion tracking?, what do you use it for? (I did tried to Google it but I’ll be thankful if someone took his or her time to explain it to me)

Is there any tutorials on motion tracking to learn it’s use?

And thirdly is there any way of motion tracking a depth of field mask, if so how? (to save all the manual keyframing)

    Thank you very much,

    Giuliano Roca

Hey Giuliano, we have an After Effects Basics forum which is probably better suited for this kind of question, as motion tracking is quite a fundamental (though important and intricate) tool.

Check the AE help file for some great info about it, and also if you search for “motion tracking tutorial” or something, I KNOW there are tutorials out there, so give that another go, i suggest. People are usually happy to help out with specific things, but it sounds a little like you just haven’t really looked into it much, and i think it’s a good idea to learn some basics about it yourself, then come back when you have points to clarify.

For your last question, no you can’t track depth of field in AE, you will have to do that manually.

I find it hard to comprehend why somebody would ask “What is motion tracking?”, then follow that up with “Can you motion track a DOF mask?”. If you don’t know what it is/does, why would you want to know if it can be used this way?

As Stuart said, it appears you’ve done very little research into motion tracking. If you had, you’d have found tons of tutorials dealing with motion tracking, some of which are right here at “The Cow”.
