I motion tracked a footage where a man lifted an action figure (toy). In order to appear that he is holding it, I masked out the part of the figure where his hands is clucthing it. The thing is, I find it very tedious to mask some portions of the figure frame by frame. By motion tracking, it makes it easier to track the movement of the footage…is there a way to mask it automatically (just like in motion tracking) without doing the frame by frame masking? Thanks in advance. Im using After EFfects CS3

If the fingers of the hand don’t move much, then you could create a mask on a solid, then track the hand and apply the data to the solid’s position…next you would use the solid as a track matte for the toy….would still take some adjusting, but probably less. Not sure if you can apply tracking data directly to a mask, never have tried, so thatis why I suggest the solid.

    Hope this helps

you can not apply tracking data to a mask. Either overall, or individual points.

Why, oh why, oh WHY there is no parameter for position of a mask (only overall shape) I have NO IDEA.
I assume this would be an easy thing for Adobe to add.

(yes, I have feature requested this)
