I’m doing a background replacement test. I’ve filmed someone walking in front of a green sweep, with red track balls placed on the back wall. The person and camera are both moving. I tracked two of the balls together for position, scale, and rotation. My tracker settings were: CHANNEL=luminance, PROCESS BEFORE MATCH=none, SUBPIXEL POSITIONING=checked, and a confidence if below setting=80%. Everything tracked well, but pretty jerky. Anyone know if there is a way to smooth out my tracking points, so my background will move more natural. I already tried ROVING keyframes, that didn’t work.

there is a tool called the smoother, in the windows menu. select all of your keys (or the ones you want to smooth, 3 minimum), then you can use the smoother.

you might also only apply tracking data to one direction (like ‘y’) on your footage, then pre comp that and apply tracker data to the other direction to the pre comp. then you control those motions differently, smoothing one more than the other, or one not at all, etc.

you may also want to stablize your clip before tracking the points for rotation… just pick one point, and apply stablization to either, or both, directions to your clip, then track both points for your rotation.

Thanks. I think the options you mentioned are going to work.

You can alos use expressions to smooth, the smoother will delete your original keyframes !

    something like

    “smooth(.25,10)”

wheck the manual for more information on theis expression, I use it all the time…
