Motion Tracker Recommendations
Hi Guys —
I’m looking for recommendations for a motion tracker plugin or standalone app. I’m a huge After Effects fan and user, but frustrated with the motion tracker and need something more efficient/powerful. The project I’m working on is an HD show full of nice fluid crane and dolly shots on a greenscreen set, with a lot of screen replacements, where we need to track screen content (like computers, tv’s, cell phones, etc.) … I’ve looked at Matchmover and Boujou and PFTrack, but need some real world recommendations, since most of these don’t seem to have eval copies. I’ve used Silhouette for rotoscoping, and love the tracker there, but unless I’m missing something doesn’t really function as a pure object tracker.
Sadly, budget is an issue, I probably can’t spend more than a couple thousand bucks.
Any tracking pros that can give me some guidance?

PFTrack for sure. we’ve just used it to replace a bg in a multiple pass motion control shot… worked a treat, with HD, without much frigging around.

I’m having to do a fair bit of matchmoving for a sequence at the moment and have purchased SynthEyes, (https://www.ssontech.com/). It’s really working magic for me and at $399 it’s definitely within your budget.
