Trying to stablize a panning shot with no luck in Motion 3.

Where to you put the tracking points when they are coming in & out of frame ?

    FCP Studio 2.

    Thanks in advance

You need to pick points that remain on for the whole scene- or slice the shot into parts and do it that way.

You don’t slice the shot itself into parts. Noah is actually referring to the Offset Track function.

Briefly, Offset Track allows you to track a single shot in stages; you find your first track point(s) and track until they disappear and the tracker gives up. Then you step back to the last good tracking frame, click the Offset Track button and reposition the tracker(s) onto new points that are as far as possible in the same planes as the first ones, and restart the track.

You can see it in action in Stephen’s tutorial here.

Not surprisingly I’m still having problems.
I’ve selected – Method to Stablize. Borders to Zoom .Direction to Hor& Ver. I highlight Pos/Sca/Rot.
I add my track & let Analize to it’s business . After the tracker goes as dar as it can, I check it’s results
by playing back the shot. The result is my footage leaves screen left leaving me a lot of black.
I’m just trying to stablize a shaky panning shot, with no black along the sides or top, who thought it would be so difficult.

    Thanks in advance
