Hey all the other day i used motion sketch to draw a path I wanted to use stroke or even 3D stroke on. well i couldnt paste the position keyframes from the motion sketch as a mask shape for the stroke–
I know you can do the reverse-use mask shape keyframse and paste into position —

can you somehow covert motion sketch keyframes into a mask path so you dont have to use the pen tool to create your path shape?

    hope thats enough info

    This worked for me.

    Copy the position keyframes.

With the pen tool make one point, creating a mask on that layer. Twirl down the mask until you get to Mask Shape. Higlight mask shape, then paste. You shoud have a mask in the shape of the motion sketched path.

hey yikes i just tried this onmy windows machine and in AE it work–I swear –I tried this exact same thing on my mac in AE at work and the motion sketch didnt paste –thats what stumped me

when i tried it now –i did my motion sketch on layer one on solid 2 i just added a mask from the pulldown menu (i didnt make 1 keyframe) -i selected all the position keyframes of the motion sketch and pasted those in the mask shape of the second solid –it worked fina and made my mask i wanted

i tell yeah i did this exact same thing on a mac and it didnt work –so strange

by the way this is a great way to use 3d stroke

    thanks yikes
