Motion quits as it opens template/project
Hope someone can help. I’ve been upgrading a G5 dual 2 Ghz system today – well mostly doing a clean install (Archive and install) of OS X 10.3.5 (from the factory discs) and reinstalling applications. Also installed a new X800 graphics card. Now Motion won’t open a project. Opening a template, new project or existing project causes Motion to “unexpectedly quit” at about the time it should open.
I’m *guessing* something to do with the graphics card. Got an odd message from the ATI driver installer about “pre-release versions of OS X 10.3.5 not being supported” but the message was cut off before the useful part (if there was a useful part). Motion and Pro Apps have been reinstalled.
What next to try? In the absence of contrary opinions I thought going to OS X 10.3.8 via a combined updater would be my next strategy. I’m open to all and any ideas. (Motion tester, btw, says Motion can be installed on this configuration.)

Did you do all the normal stuff like trash prefs, clean install, repair permissions, log in as different user etc. I know you are _not_ supposed to install any of the software or drivers that come with the X800.

Did not know about not installing the ATI drivers – do you have reference for that?

Any idea how I uninstall the drivers I don’t want/need?

uninstalling the drivers and upgrading to OS X 10.3.8 did not help solve the problem.
A complete uninstall of Motion, following the instructions on Apple’s Knowledge Base and then reinstall solved the problem.
