Is anyone having trouble rendering ProRes HQ Motion projects inside of FCP? I’m working in 1080 23.976 ProRes HQ in FCP, I send a shot to Motion work on it and send back to FCP. I have not been able to successfully render any of these in FCP, it will render but the result is normally a screen, sometimes in black, sometimes in green, with two pink strips on the left side and barely discernible green writing saying “Rendering Error in Motion File”. If I directly export the file from Motion and import into FCP, the quicktime is fine, but when rendered in FCP, this happens every time. I’ve tested other codecs and they are fine, but ProRes HQ simply does not work (I’ve tested multiple frame rates as well, it’s not just 23.976). It’s happening on both a Power PC Mac and an Intel Mac. Has anyone been able to successfully render ProRes Motion projects in FCP? Have any of you run across this problem? I posted a few days ago in the Motion forum, but this seems to be an FCP issure. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

    best regards,

    jeremy

[Jeremy Newmark] “Is anyone having trouble rendering ProRes HQ Motion projects inside of FCP?”

I’ve had many problems rendering in FCP6.

Was your project started in FCP5 and moved to FCP6? If so prepair for all sorts of surprises. I finally did a clean install of everything from OSX to FCS2 and that sorted out many of my problems.
Maybe you should try rendering the Motion files out of Motion and re-import them in FCP6. Other than that I don’t have any magic bullet for your issues.

    cheers,
    Greg
