    Greetings!

I’m working in ProRes442 in FCP but, I notice this setting is not an option in the Motion preset option. so what should I choose? If I send stuff to Motion from FCP does Motion do I even need to do anything?

    Thanks in advance!

    Dave,

Motion handles everything internally uncompressed. All those settings at the beginning? It’s merely to get the frame size + fps correct – there is no compression in Motion.

If you use the ‘send to’ choice in FCP – the result will be a .motn file in fcp.
You can literally put the motion project into FCP (whether or not it started in FCP.)
So no, you don’t need anything. When you physically render in FCP, that’s when the motion file will have some compression on it.

If you want to physically make a QuickTime file from motion? Sure – ProRes4444 (want the alpha – needs to be millions of colors + )

    Best,
