I finally loaded my copy of Studio 2 on by Macbook Pro. It’s an older Intel Dual 2.16 with 2 gig of RAM. It’s running OS 10.4.11.
When I try to open Motion, it begins to load and then quits before finishing. Is this model of Macbook Pro capable of running Motion or isn’t it up to snuff?
If it should be able to run Motion, any ideas why it won’t load the program.
I just did a clean install (erase & install) of the OS and spent a large part of the day reloading applications. I never bothered to load Motion in the past.
    Thanks,
    Tom

Motion runs fine on that machine. It’s the machine I’m currently running. Your problem has to do with an old problem that you’ll have to search the forums for that cause Motion to Quit. There’s a similar issue with Compressor.

Thanks Reid. I’ll do a search and check into it.

    Hey Tom,

I run Motion on a 2.4 ghz MBP and it works okay, but I also have 4 gigs of RAM, which I think helps. Mostly I use it for time remapping, as Optical flow is just so good, but it also puts huge files in the Motion library, which need to be cleaned out after you render your project.

I must say though, after a considerable retiming project it takes a while to get back to normal. It just kind of pauses to catch up or something.

    Have a wonderful day.

I’ve searched thru the archives and didn’t come up with anything definitive to fix the problem. All other Studio 2 programs launch and seem to run fine. Motion, however, will quit as soon as it begins to launch. I’ve trashed the prefs, repaired permissions, removed all plug-ins and run Disk Warrior on the HD. Still NG
I will reinstall the program tonight. Although I don’t run Motion on the laptop all that much, it would be nice to have. Any other suggestions?

FWIW…I ran the ProKit 4.5 update from Apples website and Motion is now opening.I’ll see if it is stable.
