Motion issues in FCP
I have a project that contains several Motion files in the sequence. When the .motn files are viewed in the timeline, they look great. However, when I render the sequence, the .motn files turn blue or orange or black. If I unrender the file it looks great again. I cannot seem to figure out how to resolve the issue.
Mac Pro dual quad core 3.0 GHz
8 GB Ram
FCP 6.0.1
Motion 3.0
Tiger 10.4.11
XSAN 1.0I know that there are updates for all of the apps I am using. But until we can make an update to our XSAN, we are not able to update our software.
Is there a fix for this issue without having to do an update?

When in Motion, export the files as quicktime movies, then import those into FCP. That’s what I do…I don’t like .motn files in my sequence.

I don’t mind using the .motn files… As a matter of fact, I love using them. There’s no way to layout logos on screen until you see a final version in FCP. This is the way to do it.
My beef is how FCP reconnects with them and adds them to the list of Master Templates. Meaning, if you create a new template, you’ll have to restart FCP to see it in the list. And them sometimes, when you alter one of them (edit) and go back into FCP, FCP doesn’t re-link properly.
