  • Motion in FCP 7 crashing

I’ve recently started using Motion for my titles in place of the seemingly discontinued Live Type. But I’ve discovered if I place unrendered motion projects in my FCP timeline, as I did with the Live Type workflow, FCP crashes when I try and drag the play head – like every few minutes….. is this a common experience with Motion, a bug, or possibly my system set up/workflow I wonder… any other Motion experiences like this?

The ‘crash’ involves FCP suddenly disappearing (no freeze, no Pizza – just gone)

My workflow: construct title in Motion – save a motn file – drag the file direct into FCP – render when ready. I do it this way (without the intermediate render step prior to FCP import) as it means I can quickly adjust titles by right clicking on the motion project in the FCP timeline, adjusting in Motion, then saving. No need to constantly re-render and re-import.

This worked fine with Live Type.

I should add that once the motn file is rendered in FCP there is no problem.

    Thanks,

    Ken.
