Hello everyone, I am 17 years old and I hope to someday be a motion graphic artist/ visual FX editor, In the past year i have tried to teach myself After Effects, Maya, Combustion, Final Cut, photoshop, and dreamweaver. I plan on attending FullSail College in 2009, I wanted to know if there is any advice anybody could give me on doing well in the buisness and “making it happen”.

    Thanks

If I had a choice back when I was a young buck, I would have gone to a VFX school. Or right out of an art college I would have attened Gnomon out in Cali.

But then again — fate is as fate is — and if you want it bad enough you’ll make it happen — just stick to your guns.

By the way, that school looks legit. Make sure you get yourself an internship though, maybe even before college, to make sure you like what you’re persuing….

I was in your same boat last year Mike…I’de definitely reccommend getting an internship while you are still in high school so you can really see if motion graphics/vfx is really what you want to do. Also, you might want to eventually decide to focus on wither motion graphics OR visual effects, because while both fields might use some of the same tools, they are vastly different fields. If you want any more advice about the full-sail/college thing, let me know.
