Is anyone using Motion successfully to make HD material? I havent been able to get to the purportedly real-time/creative/fun aspect of working in Motion because I cant get anything close to real time playback in HD. Am I simply asking for too much…?

I have a new 2.5 dual core G5 with 4.5gb ram and the standard Nvideo card (6600 ) but not the 7800 cuz I cant find it for sale seperately. Will that even make a diff. when it comes to HD work in Motion anyways?

In the meantime, do i create in SD resolution until I come up with an idea…and then change settings and tweak for HD?

I want to “play” with Motion/experiement/etc but need to make HD in the end…

    Thx,

    Sterling

I’m working in HD here, but we’re running the ATI x800XT and the nVidia 6800 cards. Motion flies on those cards even on our Dual 2.0’s.

Have you tried dropping the display resolution? Found in the popup menu (Full/Half/Third/Quarter) to the right of the Canvas zoom amount.

I just cut a commerical in FCP using DVCPROHD from a Varicam, and added titles in Motion, worked just great.
