    Hey everyone,

    I’m sure that this effect had been discussed a couple of times, but I just don’t know how it might be called so I couldn’t find anything.

    Take a look at this:

    https://www.zippyvideos.com/5013602097387976/lost2/

    It looks like the video is playing at 200% but it isn’t, right? I guess it’s more like that every second frame is deleted – but how can you achieve this with AE?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    This looks like simple cut editing (i.e., no transitions) done effectively with the appropriate camera work.
    I don’t see any strobing… or, if there is any strobing it is very sparsely used… however, I do see numerous foreground objects that are moving at faster rate than the main background…. which you may be confusing with a “faster” film rate look.

    I see nothing in this video that was done with AE… any pro level NLE can do this kind of editing very easily. I guess you could use AE… but, it would be more difficult and you would be using a less efficient editing tool.

    I think there is a little choppy something going on when you see the bald guy.

    This Dan Ebberts expression on Time Remapping, drops every other frame:

    n = 2;
    n*time

    Or…

    For a choppy look running at the same speed, then add the effect Time>Posterize Time and set it to half the comp frame rate.
