Beginning with an HD clip, how would I crop down to a smaller clip at the same aspect ratio and in doing so move the smaller frame to follow the subject within the original clip? Pan and Crop might be the best term. Any links or tutorials you might refer me to.

Thanks in advance for your expertise.

I would probably put it into a different sequence, put a title over it with bars on all four sides to achieve the right size frame. Move the clip around as needed, and then use that sequence nested into the main sequence, using Crop to cut away the four sides.

Thanks for the response. I believe I can create the crop window, and can reposition the clip to play behind it. What i can not do is move the clip actively to keep it cenetered in the “window” I have created for it.

    Any tips?

Is there a problem using keyframes on the position parameter of the Motion effect?

    There isn’t now 🙂

Thank you. Things have become so much…easier in the 10 years I have been away.

    Best,
