    All,

I posted a problem with motion clips a year ago – I’m STILL experiencing issues and have NEVER used them successfully. I’m on a project where they would save my life if I could only get them working properly. I have a character. I create motion clips with simple hand gestures. I take two of them, put each one a separate motion layer and try to have them mix…the character becomes very distorted. I turn one motion layer off, the character pops back to normal. I tried different mix modes, no resolution.

I can NOT get two of these darn motion clips to work together! Any one have experience with these? Are they majorly screwed up in C4D?

I’m on a tight deadline and don’t have time for experimentation.

Thanks for any light at the end of the tunnel!

    Brian

It should be noted that this post still has not been addressed by anyone, which is not uncommon for more technical questions but get this… over the course of 1 year, I have written two inquiries about motion clips in Cinema 4D on this forum. I also wrote to Maxon twice with two different sample files containing motion clips and questions about how to solve the issue with them. I even wrote to Kai Pederson over at Cineversity and asked him about it as he provided a general tutorial about them which at least got me started.

No one, I repeat, NO ONE will respond to questions about Motion Clips. It’s like some taboo topic…a devil child that was abandoned within the application by all the programmers and heavy users. It’s really frustrating when even the company who makes the application won’t talk about something implemented into their own software.

There’s no excuse for ignoring a user’s inquiry like this and I really have taken on a begrudging attitude towards Maxon for it. That’s just not cool.

I do owe props to Adam T. here – you’ve always been there to answer questions and even if you were unsure, try to direct me to the right source. Thanks for that!

can you post the scene? I do not have enough info to go on myself, and that’s easy here since I don’t know the NLA in C4D well.

    Brian,

Thanks for the response. For now, I’ve chosen to use only two motion clips, which did save me for this project but I wish I could add more. The file is 85 MB + textures = over 100mb so I’ll just whine and complain for a smaller project when motion clips become my saving grace another time.

    Cheers!

    Hi,

I too have had problems with motion clips. I think Maxon need to have a serious look at them. They have never worked as expected and even something like editing the keys/curves after they have been created throws up all sorts of strange behaviour
