Motion Blur problem CS4

Hello CreativeCow.

I am having an issue with the AE motion blur button. I am trying to do a light Saber blade. I am working on 15fps footage through the Adobe Dynamic link from Pr to AE. Everything works fine in the preview without the blur but once i put the blur on, the blur looks to be in reverse, like the blur is getting ahead of itself.

Ex. if the blade was to go up, in the frame just before it moves the mask is blurred upward before the blade is even there.

Adjust the Shutter Phase.

If the problem persists, Try using CC Force Motion Blur. Make sure you have checked Override Native Shutter.

I cant find the Shutter Phase setting, however the CC Force Motion Blur seems to work for me, thank you. But for future knowledge how would i adjust the Shutter Phase?

how would i adjust the Shutter Phase?

Press ” Cntl/Cmnd + K “ to open Composition settings and then go to Advance:

In general, Shutter phase = -50% of Shutter Angle

Fantastic. Thank you guys both. Never realized how in depth the motion blur went. this will make my shots look much more realistic. thank you guys again.
