  • motion blur on object buffer or speed up scene motion blur?

Posted by Jordan Montreuil on October 9, 2008 at 1:35 am

I am rendering out a 600 frame animation that has object buffers for different objects. I tried using Object Blur but it doesn’t affect the object buffers. Scene Motion Blur takes a really long time to render and I am looking at over 30 hours for the final render.

    Is there a way to:
-speed up Scene Motion blur? I have tried setting the settings low but nothing saves me a lot of time?
-add the motion blur in AE to my beauty passes and my object buffers?
-make Object Motion blur affect the object buffers?

    Thanks to any help.

You’re out of luck with Object Blur. You can speed up SMB by turning off anti-aliasing, which is performed by SMB anyway. You can also use Reelsmart Motion Blur in post if you have it, either in basic mode or supplemented with Cinema’s vector motion pass (but that’s tricky).
