    Hey guys.

I’ve got some footage on greenscreen were the actor’s hands are moving alot, thus creating motion blur. The footage was shot on DVC pro and the screen is pretty well lit. I had no problems keying the green screen and creating super tight junk mattes.

BUT, when there is motion blur, I can see a greenish hallow around it.

I can’t really mask the stuff out cause I’d be cutting off parts of their bodies.

So any suggestions on how to get rid of the green appearing inside the blur?

    Spill supression.

Under Effects > Keying > Spill supression

Also for your information, sometimes (your mileage/kilometrage might vary depending on the amount of MB in source) the option in ReelSmart Motion Blur to remove motion blur (by setting the slider to an amount value under 0) is helpful on motion blur sources over green screen. Maybe then you readd the MB when compositing the layer from which MB has been removed (attenuated).

Apart from spill suppression and carefully feathered roto (either to isolate the key or the suppression/color correction itself) it is sometimes necessary to actually composite blurry feathered colored solids on top at a percentage to a color that matches the non-motion blurred parts. Sometimes adding a directional blur and then regraining also helps. Time consuming–yes, annoying–yes, but sometimes necessary. There is no magic bullet when you wish to retain motion blur and nothing else is working.

    cheers
