  • Motion blur in nested comps – seeking a work-around

Posted by Jim Lefevre on July 14, 2010 at 1:09 pm

I’ve got a project with 59 scenes/comps of differening lengths within it and having worked my way through the main body of work I’ve just found out that all of the comps have the wrong shutter angle/sampling (in composition settings/advanced).

Is there any way of being able to change all comps very simply or is it simply a case of me having just learned a lesson in thinking things through before creating lots of comps and just doing them all manually?

I was hoping that the motion blur could be controlled by my top-comp but thinking that through that would be rather irritating when you didn’t need it…

    Any thoughts would be appreciated!

Aha! Having done a bit of deeper digging on the posts I’ve discovered an answer so thought I’d put it up here…

    – Adjustment layer over all comps in the main compostion
    – Effect – Time>CC Force Motion Blur

    Hooray!

(and many thanks to a variety of people from the other posts for pointing the way)

hmmm… although saying that it does effect it in a very different way than the comp-specific motion blur… poo

The Transform effect has Motion Blur settings. Not too sure how you’re setup but perhaps you can save it as a Preset.

The Selected_Comps_Changer.jsx script, courtesy of the brilliant Christopher Green, will get you halfway there. Select all the comps you want to change, run the script, and enter in the new shutter angle and phase.
