    Hi guys,

Does anyone know if there is a plug-in (or built-in functionality) that allows you to animate a layer’s Position property along a path (e.g. a Mask on that layer or on another layer)?

I know there are workarounds (as in the AE Podcast “Scaling Motion Paths”) that involve copying Mask data and pasting it as Motion Path data; but these solutions aren’t very useful to me as I need more control over the timing of the ‘% along path’ property like you have with a Stroke effect.

I’m trying to stroke a path with an object; that is, a solid has a Stroke effect on it whose ‘End’ is animated from 0 to 100, and a second layer moves as if it’s parented to the leading edge of that stroke.

I run into some trouble with the Mask>Motion Path workflow when I’m using easing; also, it’d be nice to have a workflow that didn’t involve re-pasting keyframes every time I make a change to the path (instead of being able to use parenting or expression links).

    Thanks
    Nick
