    FCP X now has support for proper broadcast monitoring. Why hasn’t Motion 5 inherited this functionality as well? Does anyone else find this annoying/frustrating?

    as you’d probably never finish a project completely in Motion I don’t see this as a big deal. You could always go HDMI to a monitor if you were concerned about framing or such but most likely you’d be doing your final output in FCPX or something like DaVinci where broadcast monitoring is much more critical.

    Respectfully, I disagree. Who said anything about finishing? Lack of proper broadcast monitoring limits Motion’s utility for broadcast design. The ability to tweak chroma keys or check for interlacing issues on a proper broadcast monitor while working on a composite or a motion graphics composition is critical. It’s unwieldy to have to continually switch to another application to check output.

    After Effects, Combustion, Smoke and even Motion v.1-4 have broadcast monitor support. It’s either a silly oversight or a poor design choice that Motion 5 still lacks this basic feature, especially when it’s already been added to FCP X.

    Installing PixelConduit (for free) gives you scopes, which might help.

    I agree too. Why take away something that was there and working! Put it back!

    Absolutely. It makes no sense that you can’t be watching Motion 5’s output on a broadcast monitor when building a motion graphics sequence. That’s one of the reasons I’m still on Motion 4.

    Gareth, I agree. I purchased Motion 5 the day it came out and then switched back to Motion 4 within an hour. I spend much more time in After Effects because of this.

    Thank you for the tip regarding the scopes in Pixelconduit. They work like a charm in Motion 5.
