    Hi all.

I’m prepping some graphics for a corporate edit this week – yearly performance graphs.

I created a new project in Motion 5 with the PAL SD preset and then switched the pixel aspect to 1.46 anamorphic. I then added a simple white background and some simple text with Futura at 48pt and 32pt in black. To my eyes it looks really soft.

I exported it out as pro-res4444 with the rendering option at best and it still looks soft compared to text overlayed on the same graphic from FCP 7.

Any ideas or am I going mad.

I don’t have a true monitor at the moment so can’t critically judge but I’ve learnt if something doesn’t look right don’t assume it will be fine on output!

    Many thanks

48pt sounds a bit small, how are you enlarging the text? Sometimes when I use the Z axis to make things bigger they get all jaggedy if my render settings are low…

Speaking of which, are you sure you have your render settings turned all the way up? That might also cause some jaggedies.

Not entirely certain, just hoping if I throw out a few thoughts it will pull your mind out of its rut and you’ll see the problem :-).

I just figured out how to solve this problem. I imported the motion project into FCP 7 and went to sequence settings. There you choose “Render control” and under “Master templates and Motion projects” you can set the quality to “best”.
