Motion 5 driving me crazy with constant crashing
It happens on my MacPro under Snow Leopard and on my brand new Thunderbolt 17″ MacBook Pro running Lion (both with lots of RAM). If I reposition the playhead and hit the space bar to play too soon after moving the playhead I get the spinning pizza of death. Every time unless I wait two or three seconds after repositioning the playhead. Every time. If I only wait a beat, crash!
Instead of thinking about my project, I have to count “one mississippi, two mississippi” and then press the spacebar to play. Of course I don’t really count that way, but my head is into the project, not into baby’ing Motion 5.
In addition, I thought I had inherited a bad file when I got a project from another editor and I had the file icon show the warning that media was missing. Now, on a totally new project for myself, I STILL get the media missing Motion icon in the Finder on saving the file with just the first piece of video (ProRes 422). There’s NO missing media!

Well, I can’t offer any solution (only Apple can), but if it makes you feel any better…it’s driving me crazy too.

Zach.. thank you. I think that’s it. Gives me a small comfort to know that SOMETHING from all the troubles I’ve had with Motion is resolved. Now if it would just not crash or render with sound in sync like it does when it plays the project.

PS: I also have Motion 4 on my Mac, is it possible that there’s some sort of conflict between the two?
