Motion 3 and 2K Red Code r3d codec
Hi,
I’m trying to work in Motion 3 with footage that is 2K shot on the Red Cam. I’m working with the already-reconformed quicktimes, ie quicktime wrappers with the R3D codec.
Everything seems to work, including the trip back to FCP, until I render or export the clip. Then, it just turns up as a black and green image that sort of looks like an audio waveform.
I also tried exporting it straight out of Motion, without going back to FCP, and it shows up as a blank gray image.
If I double click it in the timeline and open it in the FCP viewer, the normal image appears. But within the timeline, and in the canvas, and on the display, it’s all green. Sometimes its just a bunch of green shapes, sometimes a pattern, for what it’s worth.
Does Motion handle 2K or the Red codec? REDCODE is one of the options in the export settings…

I don’t think Motion works with the raw R3Ds to be honest. I’d change it to ProRes.
