Motion 2 Crashing with use of Text Tool

Hi gang – frustrated and confused about this one, hoping someone can help.

System:

G52.3ghz/4.5G ram/OS 10.4.4/Motion 2.0.1/stock 9600 gfx card/dual monitors

Every time I select the text tool and click on the canvas, Motion crashes. Suspecting a duplicate or corrupted font, I used Fontbook to eliminate dupes and delete corruptions. According to Fontbook I have clean fonts.

Then I followed the Apple reinstall playbook (deleting Motion + plist + receipts) and reinstalled.

Still crashing.

I’ve also disconnected all peripherals and tried again.

Still crashing.

None of my other programs that I use fonts in has any problem (LiveType, FCP, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, AE 6.5, Lightwave, Maya).

I’d appreciate any help you can give.

Try turning off all your font collections in Font book – if that works, then turn them on one by one, testing Motion each time.

Ok…did as you suggested, but it still crashed with all fonts disabled. The crashed threads have changed, though (but I don’t know enough to understand what the difference means).
