April 27, 2005 at 6:42 amIt’s not a problem… it’s an instant gratification issue. My iMac (G5, 2 gigs Ram) bogs down with a couple of filters to 5 or so fps… not bad considering I used to be happy with my old apple 11c that didn’t even have a hard drive

April 28, 2005 at 8:26 pmAh yes, the iMac. It’ll run Motion as you know, but not especially well. Compositing and filters are particularly dependent on the speed of the GPU and the amount of VRAM. The iMac is rather weak on both counts as well as the overall bus speed.

April 28, 2005 at 9:55 pmYa know? I think that just because you CAN run on a lower end machine, doesn’t mean you should do it… Pretty much a rule of thumb is, buy the fastest out there if you really want the performance to please on any application.
Yeah, it costs more, but if you are doing this for a living, you really want the performance to keep you from going batty.
