    I’ve downloaded Motion 5 to start to check it out on a secondary system. It has become the default version of Motion and if I want to open a previous version project and keep it in Motion 4, I have to manually open Motion 4. Is there a way of making Motion 4 once again the default version?

    BTW, I want to especially thank everyone for their responses and insights regarding this unfortunate X situation. I will ultimately need to make some hard decisions in the next few months, and the cumulative wisdom found here will help to make an informed decision.

    I’m with you there… I went ahead and zipped it for now. Look forward to figurin out if I want to go that route, with new x versions and all as well.

    select a motion project in finder > get info > change the ‘open with’ menu to Motion 4 > select change all

    from now on double clicking a motion project opens vers4. Also open in editor from FCP7 opens Motion4
