Morph plug-in
Posted by Shawn michael Lee on October 31, 2006 at 10:20 pmAnyone know of a really good Plug-in for AE 7.0 that will morph 2 video sources. I’m looking for something similar to AVID’s Liquid Motion AVX plug-in (it came on our Adrenalines). Thanks. I just can’t sem to find one that is that easy and successful.

October 31, 2006 at 11:34 pmHave you looked at our RE:FLex? It uses free-form splines to perform warping and morphing (including morphing between two moving sequences).

There is a demo version in the “Downloads” section for RE:Flex. Please read the short manual that is put on your disk by the installer. After reading the short manual, you should download and look at the sample projects we have in the Tutorials subsection for RE:Flex.
Note that not only do we allow you to morph between two movies, if they are similar enough (two faces, two cars, etc.) then you might get some use out of the Smart Align feature that uses motion estimation in addition to hand-aligned features to help aid in the morphing process.

November 1, 2006 at 7:08 amYou can also use mesh warp effect to do the same thing.
Just make a comp with one image cross fading to the other
then apply mesh warp effect
You can adjust the mesh points at the beginning and end on the grid to closer line up to image elements you want to move aroundI read a tutorial on it once, and they suggested you rough the grid points in at a low res and then once it flows with the images areas then turn it toi higher res and adjust the in between points. It saves you having to be precise with a large number of mesh points.
Its not as elegant as the old school spline/point by point style morphers
I don’t know why they’ve been abandoned, they could be a good plugin
