    Hi all,

I was so excited with my new system and now I’m going through “growing Pains”!

When I shut down I get this message everytime:

    Microsoft Visual CTL.runtime library
    Runtime Error!
    Program D:\AvidXpressPro\Avidxpresspro.exe
    R6025
    -pure virtual function call

    Anyone see this before??

Avid is installed on the D drive of a new Dell XPS with plenty of drive space.

    Haven’t see the error before.
    Microsoft has this enlightenment:
“Calling a pure virtual function is a programming error, so you need to find the call to the pure virtual function and rewrite the code so it is not called.”

Maybe time to re-install. Any reason why you Avid installed on you D:\ drive? Usual practice is to install the Avid app on the C:\ and use a second dedicated drive for capturing media.

Well, my C drive is much bigger, typical I suppose, re-installing is a good idea….this time on C…

Usually, you do not want to capture to a “system” drive, the drive that contains your operating system files, since the OS will be reading/writing to the drive as part of it’s normal operation…this can slow down the performance of the drive and you can risk having problems with capturing (dropped frames, overruns, etc…).
So if your D: is too small to capture video to, you may consider upgrading the drive to a larger drive or look into external storage (sata, firewire, etc…).

I’ve had this problem too when exiting Avid Express Pro. I didn’t get it on the last version only when I upgraded to 5.7. I’ve reinstalled twice and styill have the problem. Running on AMD Opterons 3 gig ram 3 TB drives etc – so memory / performance isn’t a problem. Any more ideas?
