I’m trying to create that ulstra fast speed up effect.

I’ve added a velocity envelope to my video track and ramped it up to the
    max which is 300%.

300% is not fast enough. I seem to need more like 3000% for this particular
    shot.

I don’t really want to render out a section at 300% then bring it back on the timeline and
add another 300% and so on.. What would be the easiest way to acheive my desired result?

The most you can get in one hit is 1200%. This is by maxing the Velocity envelope and Ctrl Dragging the Right edge to the left, which has a max of 400%. The two combined make 12x.

    Rendering then repeating is the way to go beyond this. (12 x 12 x 2 = 288 x)

Don’t forget that you can nest a .veg and not have to render but once. This way you can get 1200% x 1200%.

Good one Tim. Hadn’t thought of using nesting for that!

    another way is using scripts:
the first one that cut every x frames
the second one that get one frame for each event
in this way you do not have to render

what script would that be? i see a use for this for condensing down and using a clip from a camera set for timelapse. we have a vx2000 here and have done a bit of timelapse, but it records a minimum of 1/2 second each interval. if i could chop just a single frame out of a long clip, every 1/2 second, it’d be perfect for the timelapse. i’ve done the trimming manually and it’s a pain of course for a long clip. would love to have a script for it!

Look at “Time Bandit” in both the Veggie Toolkit and Excalibur 4. Excalibur 4.5 also has the Strobe Light tool which could work in a similar fashion.
