I have read most of the post for external monitoring questions and I have not been able to make my system work.

I have a 3.06 GHz intel core 2 Duo imac running final cut pro version 6.0.5. I am trying to get a sharp LC32SB23U to display video on playback. I want my clients to see the video after it has been edited in the timeline.

I have it so that it is a mirrored screen for using two screens for editing. I do not want to have two editing screens. I just need it to be used for play back featues.

    Please Help,

    Thanks in advance.

Don’t mirror it. Use it as a normal computer monitor, and choose DIGITAL CINEMA PLAYBACK as your playback option.

I tried this. I want it to work so that if I just hit the space bar and play video that it comes up full screen on the sharp. I know that I can drag the Cnavas over and play it that way, but I want it to play just full screen playback

That’s what it does…makes the footage full screen. Press play, it plays. Set this, then VIEW>EXTERNAL>ALL FRAMES and go. BUT KNOW…this is NOT a full resolution image….this is a slightly lower resolution playback. Because FCP lowers the image quality to ensure no frames are dropped during playback. If you want full quality and what your footage ACTUALLY looks like, you need to invest in a capture device…AJA, Matrox, Decklink.

You chose DIGITAL CINEMA PREVIEW and PLAYBACK ALL FRAMES? and NOTHING happened? And you turned off MIRRORING?
