More HDV ?’s
I rented the sony HDV deck (the 10) and get a great picture in the little LCD monitor, andf FCP5.0.4 recognizes it + see timecode, but I get no picture. I’ve done the easy setup and everything seems to be online except picture and sound. Any ideas?

the deck can be adjusted to downconvert to dvcam, in the menu’s. That has to be turned off. I don’t understand why anyone would downconvert when it saves so little (cheap) space but costs so much time. But, Im a freak!

i’ve also had this problem. I switched off auto selection between dv and hdv export on the deck. Setting it to HDV only. then the image came up in the digitising window. regardless of the timecode etc. until you get an image instead of color bars you are not able to capture. also, it’s a bit finickity in terms of whether the deck is on before the computer boots or before fcp starts. i find switching the mac on, then the deck, then starting fcp works best.
