    you gave a great presentation last night at Mopictive. I look forward to your return.

    You mentioned a software tool that analyzed footage and gave a detailed read out that included the compression setting.

    What was it and where can I get it. I believe you said that it was free.

    Moi. I had an abbreviated talk on the current state of compression at MoPicTive meeting at Helen Mills Theater in NYC yesterday. I should probably post these here for those local to such event. I did one in Boston last month.

    It’s built on MediInfo, FFMpeg and a few other tools. It’s a very good tool to look at the some of the innards of a file you’re handed (or just encoded). Last night I showed an example on an analysis of two H.264 encodes, one Episode Dicas and the other Compressor Apple, and it detected the difference in Profile, Entropy and Reference frames, settings one can’t control in Compressor.
