    Hi,

i am not a resolve user yet and am trying to figure out how to set-up the best monitoring solution:

    – i have heard that resolve does not support firewire monitoring like fcp or nuke would?

    – in this case, is there a way to monitor to a 3rd (or second) DVI or HDMI display in 1:1? e.g. is it sufficient to use an eizo directly under os x and display resolve’s output on that monitor directly?

    – if not, would i have to get a monitoring card (e.g. decklink)?
with a decklink, what is the best way to monitor on a digital display (eizo cg / panasonic plasma) – component?

finally, how would i recalibrate my display for resolve – is a single hardware test device enough? how do i compensate for software-specific color-shift?

    thank you!
    Markus

Resolve will only video monitor out through a Decklink-HD card, the Extreme 3d+ has HDMI output. You could drive a monitor like a HP Dremacolor through it’s display port and calibrate it with a probe like the X-Rite Hubble or Klein K-10 for REC 709. Otherwise use a HD=Link or Gefen SDI to Display Port -> to HDMI on a monitor and then you can load 3DLUT’s into the HD-Link box.

I think getting the Decklink Extreme 3D will be the lowest cost solution to drive a ‘Consumer” LCD or Plasma or a panel like a HP Dremcolor at 10 bits with HDMI.

I have a SDI Panasonic 11UK Plasma panel for Rec-709 and I have a HD-Link Display-Port I am planing to use with a JVC D-IlA projector. The nice thing about the HD-Link is the ability to load 1-D and 3-D LUTs into it.

The cheapest decklink will work as well. I had Decklink HD PRO before I’ve bought 3D+ and it worked with no problems (without stereo functionality of course).

True! I am running a basic Decklink HD-SDI card in my machine right now which works fine it just does not support HDMI or 4:4:4 monitoring. Plus you then need SDI I/O on your display devices which tends to be more expensive.
