  • monitoring through firewire and Scable – reliable color?

Hey I’m just wondering if final cut monitored through firewire to a camera then out via S-video to a broadcast monitor can be relied on for color. I feel like I’m seeing stuff a little dark with a greenish cast.

We are going to be picking up a Kona 2 card which I know is better, but is this set up fairly reliable? My monitor is calibrated to FCPs color bars, I just
feel like things are looking consistently a tad green and I would be surprised if this was true of all footage from both our cameras.

Is this a maybe due to using the S-video cable and not component or SDI?

    Thanks for any input,

    David

Assuming normal operation for all components,
FW to Camcorder to Monitor should be dead-on accurate (as will be a good breakout card).
