Beginning a new project, aiming for the holy grail of “produce once, deliver many formats”. Content planned to be shot 720p 60, many motion graphics w/stills…
Workstation: Mac Pro 2.8 Ghz dual Quad-Core Intel; Nvidia GeForce 8800 GT; PCI-e; Final Cut Studio 7
Monitor: Panasonic BT-LH1700W, SDI, Y/C, video. Also have Blackmagic DeckLink HD from previous dual G5 workstation, driving SDI monitoring.

Question: What’s the best path for monitoring with the new system, given DeckLink HD was a PCI card and the new system is PCI Express? Sell the old card, buy a PCI-e card? Other options?

Recommendations for FCP editing ProRes format?

    Thanks for your help…

I personally recommend the AJA Kona product line. The LHi is a sweet card with full up / down / cross conversions for a great price.

ProRes is definitely a great way to go for the edit. We’re cutting everything ProRes here now. Just the regular flavor of ProRes, no HQ. HQ is best for formats over 1080.

Is Snow Leopard good to go with FCP Studio 7? Advised? Contraindications?
